Coimbatore Marine College (CMC), (formerly known Marine Institution in Coimbatore) plays an imperative role in fostering electrifying professionals for the marine industry since the year 2001. The college is approved by Director General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India and affiliated to Indian Maritime University, Chennai. Accredited by ICRA – Grade I. CMC is located in the Manchester of South India, Coimbatore in a picturesque location. The vision of the CMC College is to impart a healthy atmosphere, global exposure and a robust support to its entire student through their eminent faculty.

About the Exam:

IMU CET 2018 – The Indian Maritime University will conduct IMU CET 2018 entrance exam for various undergraduate engineering programmes for the maritime sector in an online mode. The application form of IMU CET 2018 will be available tentatively in the last week of March 2018 and candidates can register for it till second week of May 2018. Candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria of IMU CET 2018 before they start filling the IMU CET 2018 application form.

IMU CET Eligibility Criteria 2018

 The IMU CET 2018 eligibility criteria for admission to various B.Tech programmes that are offered in different campuses of IMU CET are mentioned in the table that is given below:

  • Candidates must have passed their Class XII with an aggregate marks of 60% in Mathematics, Physics and chemistry
  • Candidates must have scored at least 50% marks in English in Class XII.
  • There will be 5 % relaxation in marks for candidates belonging to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe in Class XII. However, there will be no relaxation in marks for SC & ST in English
2. Name of Qualifying exams
  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 by any recognised state or central board
  • Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi
  • Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi
  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
  • Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services wing of the National Defence Academy
  • H.S.C vocational examination
  • High School Certificate Examinationof the Cambridge University or
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects
  • H.S.C vocational examination
  • Diploma recognized by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least 3 year duration
  • Any Public School/Board/University
  • examination in India or in any foreign Country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
3. Age Limit
  • The age for candidates belonging to the general category as on third week of July, 2018 should be(i) Minimum age- 17 years(ii) Maximum age- 25 years
  • There will be an age relaxation of maximum five years for candidates belonging to SC & ST category
4. Medical Fitness
  • Candidates applying for admission to marine engineering course must produce a medical fitness certificate which is issued by doctors who are approved by Director General of Shipping
  • Candidates applying for admission to B Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean
  • Engineering) and B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair), they will have to provide a Physical Fitness Certificate from Registered Medical Practitioner
5. Eyesight
  • Candidates applying for B.Sc (Applied Nautical Science), B.Sc (Nautical Science), B.Sc (Maritime Science) & B.Tech (Marine Engineering), should not be:

(I) squint

(ii)No morbid condition of eyes

(iii)The eyelids that is liable to aggravate or recur

(iv)There should be no pressure of trachoma and iris complication sequel

(v) Good binocular vision

(vi)eyeballs should move in all directions

(vii)Pupils should react normally to light and accommodation

  • Candidates joining DNS, B.Sc. (Nautical Science) & B.Sc. (Maritime Science) degree course colour vision shall (unaided 1.0 (6/6) in better eye and 0.67 (6/9)

in other eye. Normal Colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart

  • Candidates joining B.Tech. (Marine Engineering) degree course, distance vision (unaided 0.5 (6/12) in each eye or 0.67 (6/9) in better eye and 0.33 (6/18) in other eye. Normal colour vision shall be tested by Ishihara test chart.

IMU CET 2018 Application form

What to keep ready before filling the IMU CET Application Form 2018

Candidates need to keep ready the documents that are mentioned below before they start filling the application form of IMU CET 218:

  • Recent passport size photograph
  • Scanned copy of Class X Marksheet as proof of date of birth
  • Scanned copy of Class XII degree or certificate
  • Scanned image of signature of the candidate
  • Scanned copy of the Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe, OBC-NCL certificate

IMU CET Application Form 2018

The application form of IMU CET 2018 will be tentatively available in an online mode from last week of March 2018 to second week of May 2018. After filling all the details candidates will have the option to preview the IMU CET application form.

The application fee for IMU CET 2018 for different categories is mentioned below in the table. Candidates will have to pay the registration fee online and then take print out of the filled in application form.

Candidates who are able to successfully fill the application form of IMU CET 2018, they will receive an automated email and SMS.

IMU CET Exam Centre 2018

The list of cities where IMU CET 2018 exam will take place is given below in the table. The IMU CET 2018 will take place in one shift from 2:00 p.m to 5:00 p.m tentatively in the last week of May 2018. Candidates will have the option to choose three cities where they wish to take the IMU CET 2018 exam.

Though IMU will ensure that they accommodate the candidate at the test centre in the city of his choice, according to his preference. However, the university has the discretion to transfer the exam venue of the candidate if there are not adequate number of candidates. The University also reserves the right to set up more exam centres in those cities where there are large number of candidates who will appear for the IMU CET 2018 exam.

IMU CET 2018 Exam pattern

The exam pattern of IMU CET 2018 comprises of 200 multiple choice questions to be answered in three hours. There will be no negative marking for any incorrect answer.

Questions will be asked from English, General Aptitude, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics of 10+2 level.

IMU CET 2018 Admit Card

 The admit card of IMU CET 2018 will be available tentatively from the second week of May 2018 in an online mode. Candidates can successfully download the IMU CET 2018 admit card after it is made available. The information that will be furnished on the admit card of IMU CET 2018 is:

  • Name of the IMU CET Exam centre
  • Address of the IMU CET Test centre
  • Photograph of the candidate
  • Signature of the candidate

It is mandatory for the candidates to carry with themselves the IMU CET 2018 hall ticket to the examination centre. Candidates must reach the exam centre of IMU CET 2018 at least half an hour before the commencement of the exam

IMU CET Result 2018

 The category wise result of IMU CET 2018 will be declared in the last week of May 2018. Candidates will be informed about the IMU CET 2018 result through SMS and email. The result of IMU CET 2018 will be valid only for that particular academic session.

IMU CET 2018 Counselling

 Candidates who are shortlisted will have to participate in the online counselling of IMU CET 2018.

  • They will have to register themselves for the online IMU CET counseling 2018 for the programmes that are offered at the various IMU campuses.
  • Before the candidates choose the programme and institute in which they wish to seek admission, they will have to first pay the non-refundable counselling fee of Rs 10,000 either through net banking, credit or debit card
  • Candidates will be allotted seat to the IMU CET campus on the basis of the rank secured by them in the IMU CET 2018 exam, category of the candidate, choice of programme and campus; number of seats that are available.
  • After the allotment of seat, candidates will be issued a provisional seat allotment letter, which they can download once they have logged in.
  • Once the seat is allotted to the candidate, they will have to pay a non-refundable programme fee of Rs 25,000 before the stipulated date.

Note: The IMU CET 2018 cousnelling is only for the programmes that are offered at the five campuses of IMU CET. The affiliated colleges will conduct their counselling separately and candidates will have to apply directly for admission to these institutes.
