RMK Engineering College is a private engineering college in Tamil Nadu, India, governed by the Lakshmikanthammal Educational Trust. It is affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, and accredited by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) and National Board of Accreditation(NBA). It is a Telugu minority institution.
Opened in 1995 with three departments — Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, the college is located in Kavaraipettai – a town in Gummidipoondi Taluk of Thiruvallur district. In addition to offering Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in most of the engineering departments, the college also offers a Master’s degree in Computer Applications (MCA) and Business Administration (MBA). Spread across 60 acres of lush green environment, the college has excellent infrastructure facilities including adequate class rooms and seminar halls for respective departments. The college has a fleet of 80 buses for transportation of students. The number of students per class is 40 till second year to maintain a healthy Student to Faculty ratio.

Spread across 60 acres of lush green environment, the college has excellent infrastructure facilities including adequate class rooms and seminar halls for respective departments.
The College has been awarded the ‘Clean and Green Campus’ by the Rotary Club of Chennapatna for the very clean, green and beautiful campus providing an excellent ambience for learning. There is a full-fledged Building construction and maintenance wing headed by 3 site engineers, with 17 numbers of Assistant Engineers, Supervisors and workmen, in all, numbering 20. Their responsibilities include periodical maintenance of the buildings, apart from planning and construction of new buildings or extensions.
RMKEC has a well-established fully air conditioned library and information centre with huge collection of 80174 volumes and 21895 titles, Covering all major fields of science and engineering technology with international standard resources. The ultra-modern central library is located in Swaminadha Naidu Block covers an area of 1263 Sq.m., the library and information centre has separate reading and reference section to service the Undergraduate and Post graduate students, staff members and research scholars. Books are classified and arranged according to the Dewey decimal classification (DDC – 22nd Ed.) scheme.
The library has an Institutional Membership with several external libraries such as, British Council Library, MALIBNET, MMA Library (Madras Management Association) and Anna University Library. The DELNET access providing the Staff, Students and Research Scholars for the benefit resource sharing in the field of Science and technology.
The Library Subscribed E –resources are available as per AICTE MANDATORY subscribing IEEE, ASME, ASCE, SPRINGER, ELSEVIER, Mc Graw Hill, EBSCO, J – GATE (Engineering and Technology) J- GATE (Management Sciences) and ASTM Digital Library.
Boys:The college has comprehensive hostel facilities for the students. Exclusively, three blocks are provided for men, accommodating more than 1000 students.
The Boys’ Hostel-I of 3020 sq.m has 96 rooms spread over three floors and accommodates about 320 students of second year. The Boys’ Hostel-II of 2810 sq.m has 72 rooms and accommodates 200 students of third and final year of B.E/ B.TECH and MCA.The Boys’ Hostel-III of 3000 sq.m has 96 rooms spread over three floors and accommodates about 250 students of first year.
The boys hostel has separate library, reading room, shuttle courts and a shop to facilitate the students. The hostel blocks also have STD facility.
Girls: The college has separate hostel for women. Exclusively, three blocks for women, in all accommodating more than 400 students are provided.
The Girls’ Hostel-I of 1330 sq.m. has 36 rooms and accommodates 120 students. The Girls Hostel-II of 900 sq.m has about 20 rooms and accommodates 120 students. A separate dining hall covering 200 sq.m, to accommodate 100 students at a time, is also available in this block.The Girls’ Hostel-III of 2800 sq.m. has m ore than 50 rooms with a study hall.
The girls hostel has Shuttle courts, Table tennis and a shop to facilitate the students. The hostel blocks also have STD facility
The hostel is annexed with a kitchen, to provide food at protected and hygienic environment along with dining halls, which can accommodate more than 1000 students at a time.
Healthy and nutritive food is served. The hostel kitchen has facilities for steam cooking with gas stoves. There are three dining halls covering an area of about 750 sq.m for accommodating large number of students at a time.
Physical fitness has been given utmost importance. The college hostel facility is equipped with an air-conditioned gymnasium with a state-of-the-art equipment especially for men. Moreover, the Boys Hostel is annexed with a full-fledged air-conditioned hair grooming centre.
R.M.K. Engineering College Computer Centre, which is a central facility and provides computing support to the user community consisting of students, faculty, research staff and office staff for academic and office automation purposes.
The computer centre with a built up area of 2 * 863 sq.meters, is located in the Swaminatha Naidu Block with more than 1300 computers to afford computing facilities and Internet services.
The working environment is open and it facilitates smooth functioning of the centre and effective utilization of the resources.
The College has a fleet of 80 buses, 15 vans and cars to transport students and staff from Chennai to college and back. These buses operate along 8 routes starting from different points approximately between 6.30 and 6.45 a.m. We have a clinic with the full time doctor and a dispensary with two beds. Also we have two ambulance vans available for service. A medical shop is kept opened till 9.30 p.m. We have well equipped power gym and hydraulic gym (Air Conditioned) with latest multiple machines. RMK College Of Engineering Fees Structure 2018
The Department of training and placement is headed by
Dr. K.K.Sivagnana Prabhu, B.E.,M.Tech.,Ph.D. This department interacts with reputed organizations all over the country for arranging campus interviews for the placement of final year students. It makes efforts to send most of the students for in-plant training to enhance their technical ability and gain exposure to the practical world.
Industrial visits to reputed companies are arranged to know more details about industrial activities. It also enhances the soft-skill capability of the students through regular training programs. The department counsels the final year students for their higher studies and for getting projects from industries.
Candidates from other states will be considered as belonging to OC only, irrespective of their community for the purpose of considering minimum eligibility marks.

- Tuition and other fees prescribed by the college should be paid in full before the stipulated date. Fee once paid will not be refunded on any account. If any student wishes to leave the course in the middle he/she shall pay the full tuition fee prescribed for the course. Students rusticated from the college shall forfeit all the fees paid.
- The decision of the Management will be final in all matters relating to admission, training & discipline and will be binding on all the parties concerned.

Institute admits students in its undergraduate B.E/B.Tech programs through TNEA
About the Exam:
Anna University will conduct TNEA 2018 counselling for admission to UG engineering programmes at participating universities tentatively in last week of June. Admission to engineering programmes will be based on marks obtained by candidates in PCM in the qualifying examination. No separate entrance exam will be held. To account for variations in difficulty level of different state boards to that of the State Board of Tamil Nadu, the marks obtained by other state candidates will be normalized. Additionally, the total marks will be reduced to 200 (from 300) for preparing the merit list. Candidates who meet the cutoff of TNEA 2018 will be called for counselling round. Counselling of TNEA will be single window process.

TNEA Eligibility Criteria 2018
Candidates need to fulfil the eligibility criteria prescribed by Anna University to be considered for admission to any of the participating institutes of TNEA 2018. The list of criteria are mentioned below:
- Candidates from Tamil Nadu (TN) who have passed VIII-XII in the state can apply and needn’t enclose certificate of nativity.
- Candidates native to TN but who have passed VIII-XII in some other state must enclose nativity certificate.
- Children of Central Govenmnt Employees can also apply provided their parents have been working in TN for past five years.
- Candidates who have studied VIII-XII in the state of TN are eligible and don’t need to enclose Nativity Certificate.
Candidates need to have passed HSC or any equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The category-wise minimum aggregate % of marks required in the three subjects is given below:

TNEA 2018 Eligibility Criteria for other state candidates:
Under the other-state quota, candidates who are Indian citizens but not a native of Tamil Nadu can apply.
Qualifying Exam and Marks: Candidates need to score a minimum of 50% aggerate marks in PCM taken together (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) in HSc or equivalent exam.
TNEA Application Form 2018
The application form of TNEA 2018 will be available only in online mode. After filling in the online registration of TNEA application form 2018, the candidate will have to send printout of the completed online application in person or by post to:

The application form must be accompanied by photocopies of relevant certificates and photographs and must reach the above mentioned address on or before the last date. The registration fee must be paid only online. Candidates must pay the registration fee as per the category they belong to, or else their applications will be rejected.
When filling the application form of TNEA 2018, care must be taken to enter only genuine information. The TNEA application form 2018 will include fields like education details and personal details. Also, when uploading any documents, the candidate must conform to the prescribed format.

Allotment of undergraduate engineering seats through TNEA 2018 will be done under seven categories. These seven categories and the percentage of seats reserved per category are outlined in the table below:

TNEA Rank List 2018 and Random Number
The rank list of TNEA 2018 will be available tentatively in the third week of June for those candidates who have successfully completed the online registration process. For preparing the rank or merit list of TNEA 2018, the marks obtained in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry in the qualifying examination would be considered. Also, rank list of TNEA 2018 would be prepared based on total marks of 200 (Mathematics – 100, Physics + Chemistry – 100). In case two or more candidates score the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-se-merit of the the candidates would be decided in a following order of priority:
- Percentage of marks obtained in Mathematics
- Percentage of marks in Physics
- Percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject
- Age of the candidate (the older candidate will be given prefernce)
- Random number assigned (higher number will be placed higher in merit list of TNEA 2018)
The common merit list would include the name and ranking of the shorlisted candidates. To check their random numbers, the candidate will have to log in using their registered email ID and password.
In case of Other State candidates, the 4th condition (age the candidate) will be the last condition for deciding inter-se merit. Also, the rank list will include the overall rank, region wise rank and community-wise rank of the candidate.
TNEA Cutoff 2018
The TNEA 2018 cutoff is the minimum rank a candidate needs to score to be in eligible for seat allotment. The cutoff of TNEA 2018 would be available for the specific college, community code (SC, ST, OC, etc.), and branch. The check the TNEA cutoff 2018, the candidate will have to go to the cutoff portal and select the relevant fields. The candidate, typically, would be required to enter three mandatory – district, college name, and branch, and one non-mandatory field – community code. Candidates who score the cutoff of TNEA 2018 will have to counselling round. When preparing the cutoff of TNEA 2018 factors like the number of candidates applying for admisison, previous years’ cutoff trends, and marks obtained by the candidates in qualifying exams will be taken into consideration.
TNEA Counselling 2018
The counselling of TNEA 2018 will be carried out according to merit and category-wise reservation of seats. Higher ranked candidates will be called for counselling of TNEA 2018 first and have more options to choose from. Candidates can pick their choices of branches and colleges from the available options at the time of counselling. Counselling will be held in offline mode and the candidate has to be present in person. If the candidate is unable to attend counselling for some unavoidable reasons, the parent of the candidate is allowed to attend counselling on behalf of the candidate.
Candidates who get shortlisted for counselling of TNEA 2018 have to pay the counselling fee either through Cash or DD. On the day of counselling, the candidate must also bring along originals of all relevant documents.
TNEA Seat Allotment 2018
The allotment of seats for TNEA 2018 will conducted in the order of merit. Also, when allotting seats category-wise rank of the candidate will be considered for filling seats reserved for candidates belonging to the state of Tamil Nadu. The choices entered by the candidate during counselling will also be taken into account. Once a candidate is allotted a seat, the candidate can go ahead and pay the remaining tuition fee.
